Feast your eyes on this Cascade Jacket from outerwear supremos Páramo. It’s got more ultra-useful details than you’ll know what to do with, like a tryptch of plentiful pockets, a tough, chunky zip and a packable, wire-lined drawcord hood, and it’s made out of some thought-provoking fabric called ‘Nikwax’. Story goes that an intrepid hiker by the name of Nick Brown thought the waterproof outdoor-wear of the day was too torrid for the never-quite-hot, never-quite-cold weather in Britain, so he set out to make something that wasn’t only waterproof, but highly breathable in muggy environments as well. This chain of thought quickly led to a fabric called Nikwax Analogy. We you won’t bog you down with all the various jiggery-pokery that goes into making this stuff, so we’ll just say it’ll keep the rain off you, without leaving you sweating buckets every time a canter is called for. Extra points because it’s named after the mid-2000s’ favourite German dance music act.
