Serious outwear doesn’t come more serious than this Tabiki Down Jacket from Nanga. ‘Tabiki’ means ‘fire’ in Japanese, so it should come as no surprise that this is made from some mighty fine, flame-resistant woven polyester stuff that feels damn near indestructible, and should offer a bit of protection next time a group of adolescent ruffians shoot fireworks at you on your way to the off-license. Let’s not forget about that dangerously-toasty down insulation either. The design is pretty life-affirming too – Nanga has clearly taken inspiration from the mountain parkas of yore, but has souped it up with a bunch of nifty details you’d never find on grandad’s parka: the sheer amount of useful pocketry being the standout example.
