Traditionally, an Eisenhower jacket is a short wool military jacket that takes it’s name from that slightly unlikely style icon… Dwight Eisenhower. The story goes whilst planning military skirmishes, ol’ Ike had requested a jacket similar to a British field coat, “But with more distinctive style.” The resulting jacket became the M-44 jacket and was an instant battlefield hit.
Which sort of brings us onto the Manteau Eisenhower from A.P.C. Like it’s namesake, it’s a wool field coat, but it’s a bit longer, and a fair bit slicker. Stat-wise, it’s got three pockets on the front, a super-slick lining and some nice big buttons on the front. It’s also got a massive poacher’s pocket type-thing hidden in the back, presumably for sneaking illicit snacks into the White House.
