The North Face probably doesn’t need much of an introduction… but we’re going to give you one anyway.

Founded back in 1964 by a young man by the name of Doug Tomkins, The North Face started out as a shop selling tents and camping equipment to the people of San Francisco.

By 1968 they’d started to make their own stuff, and by 1969 they’d revolutionised the haulage world with their lightweight rucksack, the Ruthsack.

Since then they’ve gone on to become probably the biggest outdoor clothing company in the world (a complete guess, but we can’t think of anyone bigger). They’ve got a good logo too.
