The story of Seiko takes place in the idyllic setting of 19th century Japan. The fresh scent of blossom hangs lightly in the crisp spring air, geishas wink provocatively from behind concertina fans and amidst all this a bright young chap by the name of Kintarō Hattori decides to do the unthinkable — open a watch shop.

After selling his own clocks under the name ‘Seikosha’ (which translates roughly to ‘House of Exquisite Workmanship’), Kintarō made the transition to wrist-wear in 1924, and with a slightly snappier name, Seiko was born.
