** The new Nanamica stuff is here - see it now **

The story of the Casio G Shock takes place in Japan in the early 80s. After accidentally smashing his father’s prized timepiece on his way to work, a young designer called Kikuo Ibe gave himself the arduous task of creating a near-indestructible watch.

After dropping over 200 prototypes out of a third story window, Kikuo found his winning formula, which involved a dead fancy shock absorption system and a ‘floating’ watch mechanism.

We’re not going to pretend we understand how it all works, but we do know that these watches are tough as nails. Popular with construction workers and the military, if you’re after something that’s built to last, these classics are hard to beat.
