Continuing on our theme of shamelessly scanning photos from old books, here’s some lovely photos taken by E.S. Curtis. After being commissioned to make a series of pictures called The North American Indian all the way back in 1906, Edward Sheriff Curtis ended up taking over 40,000 photos of over 80 tribes and in the process got himself the nickname ‘Shadow Catcher’. But all rambling intros aside, here’s a small percentage of his hefty repertoire.
