EAMES: The Architect and The Painter

Published: Tue Nov 01 2011

The Eames Office, headed up by the husband-and-wife team of Charles and Ray Eames, is widely regarded as one of America’s most important design studios. Whilst most synonymous with mid-century plywood and fiberglass furniture, a new film opening at the ITC in New York this month — ‘EAMES: The Architect and The Painter’ — aims to paint the wider picture of their creative practice.

With an open minded approach, the Eames Office were commissioned for a range of varied projects; photography, interiors, multi-media exhibits, graphics, games, films and toys… even splint designs for wounded military men during World War II. A broad focus all approached with the same high values.
