Forgive us if we’re stating the obvious but – it’s fair to say the ‘Made in Japan’ stamp carries weight amongst those with an appreciation of quality clobber.

The fastidious nature of our Far Eastern friends means they’ve become known as the top boys when it comes to the design and manufacturing of premium wares.

For years OiPolloi has championed Japanese designers and brands, a great deal of our favourite items are of Japanese origin or influence. We made our first, long overdue, trip to Tokyo back in March and returned a day before the awful events of March 11th 2011. In light of the above we felt it only right we did our bit and tried to chip in where we could, in the form of a fundraising event entitled The Mischief of Magpies. We’ll be taking donations on the night and online leading up to it – with all proceeds going to the Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Fund.

Couple of our musical mates have been drafted in to help, Andy Votel of Finders Keepers fame and Jon K – the sonic encyclopaedia that is SnipSnap Music. Few of us here will also be playing a tune or two.

As way of thanks, all charitable folk who donate £5 or more will be entered into a prize draw for a £500 OiPolloi gift voucher to spend online or in the shop.

If you can’t make it down to The Gaslamp on Saturday 30th April and want to donate / enter the prize draw you can donate online on our JustGiving page.
