PRO-Keds

First introduced in 1949 by the US sneaker pioneer Keds as their athletic sneaker line, PRO-Keds quickly became one of the most popular lines of basketball shoes around. Worn by such basketball luminaries as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (famous for his trademark ‘sky hook’ shot and for fighting Bruce Lee in Game of Death) and Nate ‘Tiny’ Archibald, Pro Keds were seen as ‘the only sneakers with style’ and were quickly adopted by the NYC hip hop community.
