Belstaff
Belstaff was founded in 1924 in Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, UK and originally manufactured waterproof garments by mixing fine Egyptian cotton with natural oils, reputedly the earliest form of wax cotton, the world's first breathable, waterproof fabric.
During the 1930s Belstaff specialised in making technical garments which were wind-proof, rain-proof and resistant to heavy friction. Therefore they specialised in garments for aviators, bikers, the armed forces and for anyone living an active life outdoor. With Belstaff products the emphasis was on safety and protection, which naturally led to their products becoming know for being hard wearing. It was this reputation that led to their Trailmaster jacket being favoured by motorcycle enthusiasts and famous champions alike. Even a certain Ernesto 'Che' Guevara wore a Belstaff Trailmaster on his epic journey through Latin America.
With a long history for making hard wearing outdoor clothing, Belstaff have been based in the town of Mogliano Veneto, Northern Italy since 1996 after Franco Malenotti breathed new life into the company. Since then they have grown rapidly once again and their place in the history of clothing innovation and quality has been rightly cemented.
