Trivia time: ever wondered why early sweatshirt designs, from the 1930s and '40s, had a 'double V' construction on the front and back of the neck? Firstly, it was a sweat-sponge, the ribbed cotton jersey these sections were made from was more absorbent than the fleece or French Terry body. Secondly, they acted as a reinforcement, reducing stretching. So — if you've a big swede and don't want a baggy neck-line — this is the sweatshirt for you my friend.
