The Russians didn’t really use pencils in space (there was always the risk that the tip would break and float into a vital bit of kit, not to mention the mess of sharpening one in zero gravity). The American astronauts did use pens made by these guys however.
Conceived in 1948 and exhibited for years in New York's Museum of Modern Art, the Fisher Bullet Space Pen is cited as an outstanding example of "exquisite industrial design".
Designed to work in the boiling hot vacuum of space, this pen will write at any angle, even upside-down, in extreme temperatures (-30 to + 250 degrees f), underwater and in zero gravity (y’know, just in case).
There’s a chrome pen clip available separately.
