Back in the late 1800’s, Lewis Haslam, a Lancashire mill owner and politician, created a fabric which provided a buffer between the warmth of the skin and the chill of the atmosphere. In 1888, Haslam and his two colleagues formed ‘The Cellular Clothing Company’ to introduce their new Aertex cellular ventilated garments to the world.

By the 1960's, Aertex became a sports and schoolwear classic across a wide spectrum of sports. Around 1965, Kenya was added as a rich person's holiday destination and Aertex cashed in with a collection of safari outfits. Aertex was seen in the 1970 World Cup in Mexico, and then Pele was seen to wear an Aertex shirt when he played for the New York Cosmos in the mid 70's.

Today, the brand continues to produce some fine pieces of clothing, and importantly manages to keep in touch with it's fine British heritage.
